Frequently Asked Questions

Do you report my results to the Massachusetts Board of Building Regulations and Standards or do I need to do that?

The way it works in Massachusetts is that we provide you a certificate of completion that shows you have completed the continuing education. You then send a copy of that certificate in to the board along with your CSL renewal form.

It looks like there are three different online continuing education courses for Massachusetts. Why is that?

The state of Massachusetts requires CSL license holders to complete 12, 10, or 6 hours of continuing education depending on your license type. The three CSL license types are unrestricted, restricted, and specialty. Unrestricted CSL needs 12 hours of continuing education. Restricted CSL needs 10 hours. Specialty CSL license holders need 6 hours. Most CSL license holders have the Unrestricted license.

How often do I need to complete continuing education in order to maintain my construction supervisor license?

In Mass you only need to complete the course every two years in order to renew your CSL license.

How do I know what type of construction supervisor license I have?

If your MA license number on your actual license begins with CS, then you have the unrestricted license. If your license number begins with CSFA then you have the restricted license. If your license number begins with CSSL you have the specialty CSL license.

Do you offer any classroom continuing education?

No, all of our MA CSL continuing education courses are done online.

Does Boston Contractors Institute give me a certificate of completion when I finish the Massachusetts CSL course?

Yes, everyone who finishes our CSL continuing ed class will receive their certificate of completion via email, mail, or fax. Whatever works best for you.

To complete the Boston Contractors Institute csl course do I need some special computer?

As long as you have an internet connection you’ll be able to complete the course without any problem.

I have an android tablet. Can I do the CSL course that?

Our course works great on any computer, smartphone or tablet – including iphones, android, etc.

Can I pause my license and reinstate it later?

The MA Board of Building Regulations and Standards can better answer that for you.
